- The Department of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging at University of Alberta participates with other departments of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry in offering these interdisciplinary programs in medical sciences.
Programme Structure
Curriculum:
- Students entering the PhD program after a BSc degree must complete 6 units of graded graduate level courses decided upon in conjunction with the Supervisor and Supervisory Committee.
- Students entering the PhD program after a MSc degree must complete 3 units of graded graduate level courses decided upon in conjunction with the Supervisor and Supervisory Committee.
- Notwithstanding the above, students must fulfill the department’s PhD program requirements as approved and stated in the department’s graduate program requirements.
- Course requirements are recommended by the Supervisor and Supervisory Committee based on the background of the student and the area of specialization to be undertaken.

General requirements
- The Department’s minimum admission requirements are an undergraduate degree with an admission GPA of at least 3.0 on the 4-point scale from the University of Alberta, or an equivalent qualification and standing from a recognized institution. The admission GPA will be calculated on the last 60 units of graded coursework completed, or on the equivalent of the last two years of full-time graded coursework.
- Applicants must have graduated in medicine for the clinical research areas, or in the appropriate scientific disciplines for the other research areas.
