Programme Structure
Structure:- A thesis of approximately 220 pages on a suitable topic, in which the candidate is expected to demonstrate original insights and exercise advanced research skills. Study is by individual supervision, and candidates are encouraged to take part in related departmental seminars.
- In the final year of study, candidates should present at least two public departmental seminars on their research findings, and prior to presentation of the thesis, take a doctoral examination (written or oral and equivalent to two papers of four modules each) to satisfy the department of their adequate knowledge of English literature outside the period of research and the principles of poetics and research.

- For admission to a doctoral programme, applicants must have successfully completed a relevant master programme in the same or relevant field of study or discipline.
- Students applying for Doctoral degree studies in general need to have obtained their previous relevant degree with an average mark of at least 65% or equivalent.
