About

The aim of the Economic History programme at Uppsala University is for our PhD students to learn how to critically and independently assess economic-historical research tasks and contribute to the development of research by producing a doctoral thesis.

Overview

The PhD student is expected to acquire knowledge of social scientific and historical methods and theories. They are also expected to develop pedagogical skills.

A person meets the general entry requirements for PhD Programmes if he or she:

  • has been awarded a second-cycle qualification;
  • has satisfied the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits were awarded in the second-cycle; or
  • has acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way in Sweden or abroad.
