There are two specialisations in the Third-cycle Programme in Comparative Literature at Umea University: (a) comparative literature; and (b) didactics of comparative literature.

- In addition to general theories and methods of comparative literature, the didactics specialisation also looks at didactic theory and the relationship between reading and teaching in schools, higher education institutions and educational activities in society.
