Features
Economic History at the University of Gothenburg has implemented extensive research for many years now. This research is rooted, both theoretically and methodologically, in history and social sciences, and it provides long-term perspectives of the development of society.
The research at the Unit for Economic History has roots in history and social sciences and provides long-term perspectives on social development. The department has a professorship in Economic History and one in Business History.
The research in Economic and Social history deals with themes such as wages, productivity, migration, living standards and health/mortality, and the economic history of slavery and colonialism, while research in Business History and Business History focuses on themes such as companies and markets.

General requirements
- A person meets the general entry requirements if he or she has been awarded a second-cycle qualification, or has satisfied the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits of which at least 60 credits were awarded in the second-cycle.
- The specific entry requirements for third-cycle education in Economic History are fulfilled if the applicant has completed at least 90 higher education credits within the subject, including a degree project corresponding to 15 higher education credits or equivalent knowledge acquired in some other way.
