Overview
This Human Geography programme offered by University of Gothenburg provides advanced training in human geography through research on the spatial dimensions of society, economy, and everyday life. The programme examines how places, networks, mobility, development processes, and environmental conditions shape human experiences and societal change in a world characterised by globalisation, urbanisation, uneven development, and cultural transformation.
Key Facts
The programme consists of independent research, supervision, courses, seminars, conferences, and excursions. Students develop and carry out their own research projects within key areas such as development geographies, mobility and transport, communication networks, and nature–society relations. The education leads to a doctoral degree after four years of full-time study, with the possibility of obtaining a licentiate degree after two years.Programme Structure
