The Brown and Beige Fat - Organ Crosstalk, Signaling and Energetics Collaborative Research Center constitutes a unique possibility to bring together leading scientists in the field of brown and beige adipose tissue and energy homeostasis and foster their interaction.
All participating institutions offer state-of-the-art research infrastructure and an outstanding environment for excellent research.
Programme Structure
Research projects include:
- Bariatric surgery as a key model to unravel microbiome-based treatment targets modulating adipose tissue thermogenesis
- Intestinal metabolites and their impact on thermogenic responses by brown and white adipose tissues
- Investigating novel endocrine signals of liver - white and brown adipose tissue cross talk in response to cold exposure and feeding cues
- ExBat: Effect of acute and chronic exercise on human thermogenic adipose tissue & elucidation of mechanisms
- Relevance of endothelial lipoprotein processing for thermogenic adipose tissue plasticity and function

- To be eligible for entry you are expected to have successfully completed (or be close to completion) your BSc and MSc degree or equivalent.
- You are also required to have completed a research project that accounts to at least 25% of one year of study and must possess excellent English language skills.
