About the programme

Psychology is the systematic exploration of an individual's experiences, behaviour and biology and their interrelationships and underlying mechanisms.

The aim of the doctoral studies in Psychology at Luleå University of Technology is to give the student specialised knowledge in Psychology, in-depth knowledge of different research methods and a good understanding of the challenges related to research and its practical application.

General requirements

An applicant meets the general entry requirements for doctoral (third-cycle) studies if he or she has been awarded a Master’s (second-cycle) qualification, has satisfied the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 second-cycle credits, or has acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in another way, in Sweden or elsewhere.
In addition to the general entry requirements, admission to doctoral studies in Psychology requires a degree at the advanced level with a major/main field of study in psychology or equivalent, or a degree at the advanced level in a related field.
