Key features
The program offers courses that are specially designed for international students. The medium of teaching, i.e., class instructions, and research supervision under this program is English. Needless to mention, both the master theses and doctoral dissertations are accepted in English. Though Japanese language is not a requisite for a master's and/or a doctoral degree, Japanese language courses are also offered for international students and their spouses, to help make their life more enjoyable at Saitama University. As of current, there is a total of 72 students from 14 countries registered to this program.
The Civil and Environmental Engineering program from Saitama University starts either in the beginning of April or at the end of September and require a standard full time attendance of two years for a Master of Engineering degree and three years for a Doctor of Engineering/Doctor of Philosophy degree. A large number of students are financially supported by scholarships such as the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of the Japanese Government (MEXT), Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP), and Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJWBGSP). Additionally, scholarships funded by several public and private organizations are also available for international students.
