Overview
About the program
The Master Switches in Cardiac Ischemia CRC at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf aims to promote the next generation of qualified early career researchers through outstanding scientific education.
The iRTG enables doctoral researchers and doctoral researchers in medicine to prepare their doctoral thesis in the field of cardiovascular biology and medicine. To achieve this task our early career researchers complete a structured doctoral training program.
This program aims to advance cooperative international research and learning in the context of tightly linked, collaborative research projects investigating the molecular mechanisms which influence cardiac remodeling in the acute and subacute phase after acute myocardial infarction including the complex crosstalk between cardiac and extracardiac cell populations, metabolic adaptation, comorbidities and ischemia-triggered systemic responses.
Programme Structure
Projects include:
- Ventricular arrhythmogenesis by ion channel remodeling after acute myocardial infarction (AMI)
- Molecular basis of disturbed sarcomere function in diabetic and non-diabetic remote myocardium
- Role of mitochondrial Telomerase Reverse Transcriptase and mitochondrial p27 in myocardial infarction
- The Reelin-GPVI axis in acute myocardial infarction beyond thrombosis
- The CD73-adenosine-Interleukin 6-type cytokines axis in myocardial infarction
- Mitochondrial efficacy in AMI: role of PGC-1α
- The circulating nitric oxide pool and anemia in acute myocardial infarction
- Cardioprotection by ischemic conditioning in pigs with a metabolic syndrome
