Candidates are required to attend and pass Research Methodology course within the first two semesters of candidature and all the graduation requirements before being conferred the Degree. The medium of thesis is in Malay or English,or Arabic, but under special circumstances, the Senate may approve the use of a language other than Malay, English or Arabic for the thesis concerned.

- A Master’s degree from recognized universities. Holder of bachelor degrees with CGPA of 3.7 and above can apply directly for the PhD programme, or other qualifications approved by the Senate from time to time.
