Research Areas

Theoretical Physics

• The theory groups at the Westlake Physics aim to build theoretical frameworks for addressing a variety of questions in modern physics, and develop qualitative pictures and quantitative tools to understand a range of phenomena.

Condensed Matter Physics

• Condensed matter physics studies the physical properties of matter in condensed forms, such as crystals, ceramics, polymers, and even liquids. Major research topics covered in condensed matter physics include unconventional superconductivity, the quantum Hall effect, magnetism, topological phenomena, and light-matter interactions.

Computational Physics

• Our research focuses on high-performance numerical simulation of complex physical systems and processes and the development of computational methods.

Optics

• Study the behavior and properties of light, including its interactions with matter, and develop new future technologies and applications.

High Energy Physics

• Conduct research on fundamental questions concerning the origin and evolution of the universe; Focus on physical mechanisms at the smallest spacetime scales, including the microscopic structure of spacetime as well as fundamental particles and their interactions;
