- A high score in the GATE examination is the first step towards securing an admission in the program. The high scorers then appear in the Department's own tests on comprehension and quantitative skills followed by a personal interview are the only way to get admitted in the curriculum. Passing through a selection process that guarantee the best of the available talents, the students are challenged with an equally tough academic program that focus on both learning and implementation.
- The M.Tech program is the flagship program of DoMS. It is one of the oldest to introduce industrial engineering in India. The program provides a perfect blend of industrial engineering and management science to its students. The well-defined structure of course work and a yearlong thesis work provides in-depth knowledge of concepts to students. The intervening summer internships is used for practical project work in industries.
- The program focuses on developing expertise in management engineering. It covers diverse topics from both the management and engineering paradigms. Quantitative modeling methods, improvement of productivity, quality and profitability in the manufacturing sector, supply chain management and application of optimization techniques in finance, marketing and IT are some of the areas to which students are exposed.

- A Master’s degree in management or relevant disciplines in Engineering / technology with marks / CPI not below the specified minimum.
- A valid GATE score is required for the candidates with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science (4-year programme), except in the case of candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science (4-year programme) from the centrally funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs). The candidates with Master’s degree in Science/arts/commerce must either have a valid GATE/CAT/GMAT score or must have qualified for/in JRF/NET.
