Key Features
The Physics program from Sabanci University aim to become a center of excellence in theoretical and experimental studies in the fields of Astronomy and Cosmology, Condensed Matter and Quantum Physics.
Due to a decision of the Graduate Board, in order to be able to defend the thesis, the student should have at least one (1) journal articles satisfying the following:
- If the PhD study cannot be published due to trade secrets, patent application process, etc., the issue of waiving this rule is first consulted with RGP director. Eligible applications are then submitted to Institute Executive Board for approval.
- The journal should be listed in SCI-E or Scopus journal lists.
- The article should have been accepted and this should be demonstrated by a letter from the advisor two weeks before thesis defense.

- Official Transcript: Candidates applying to a PhD program with an undergraduate degree must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00. Graduates of universities that use a different grading system are required to submit an official explanation or a conversion table as appropriate. There is no such requirement for candidates applying with a master’s degree.
- Two recommendation letters: Candidates are required to provide contact details for two people who will write recommendation letters.
- One passport-sized photo: Candidates must upload a passport-sized photo to the online system.
- Statement of Purpose: Candidates must submit a statement, written in English, explaining their intent in applying to the program.

- Providing an English proficiency exam score is not mandatory.
