Overview
New Anglia University ’s Doctor of Medicine program integrates a strong foundation in Basic Sciences with supervised clinical training. During the first 20 months, students study on campus in Anguilla, developing knowledge across medical sciences, human structure and function, disease processes, pharmacology, diagnostics, and clinical reasoning.

The following two years are dedicated to clinical training in the United States and United Kingdom. Students undertake Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Psychiatry, Family Medicine, and Clinical Electives. Throughout the program, students strengthen their scientific understanding, clinical reasoning, communication, and patient-care skills in preparation for postgraduate medical training and a career in medicine.

- The Doctor of Medicine program is organised into two stages: Basic Sciences and Clinical Sciences. The first stage comprises five terms of Basic Sciences completed over 20 months in Anguilla. Students study foundations of medicine, human structure and function, brain and behavior, metabolic homeostasis, cardio-respiratory systems, disease and treatment, pathology, diagnostics, pharmacology, clinical medicine, and clinical reasoning.
- The second stage consists of two years of Clinical Sciences training in the United States and United Kingdom. This includes Internal Medicine (12 weeks), Surgery (12 weeks), Obstetrics and Gynecology (6 weeks), Pediatrics (6 weeks), Psychiatry (6 weeks), Family Medicine (6 weeks), and Clinical Electives (24 weeks).

A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is normally expected from applicants. Academic credentials obtained outside the United States are assessed for equivalency during the admissions review process.

General requirements
Applicants are required to hold a bachelor’s degree in a science-related discipline from a recognized institution. Candidates with different academic backgrounds may also be considered after review of their previous studies and academic preparation.
The admissions process includes an assessment of academic qualifications together with an interview evaluating the applicant’s motivation, communication abilities, and suitability for medical education. Where applicable, candidates must also satisfy the University’s English language requirements. Standardized medical school admission tests are not required.
