Overview
The Graduate School for Computing in Medicine and Life Sciences at University of Lübeck was established in 2007, funded within the Excellence Initiative of the German Governments. It links the three main fields of research of the university: medicine, computer science and life sciences.
Learning outcomes
- It aims to integrate medicine, computer science and life sciences through structured international doctoral education rooted in a strong research foundation.
- The mission of the Graduate School for Computing in Medicine and Life Sciences is to train outstanding doctoral students through a structured teaching and research programme within an interdisciplinary and international environment. The programme for doctoral education is characterized by professional supervision and a quality curriculum.
Programme Structure
Courses include:
- Depending on the academic background of the student and the topic of the research project, an individual curriculum is developed in consultation with the supervision group at the beginning of the project.
- The curriculum comprises a list of courses and seminars to be taken, soft skills workshops, and other scientific events to be attended.
- Containing both scientific and transferable skills elements, the curriculum aims to advance students’ academic specialisations as well as to prepare them for a successful transition to the complex and changing employment market.
