Opportunities within the Public Administration programme at the University of Bern

Within the context of doctoral studies, doctoral candidates must generally provide required transcripts of grades for all doctoral level courses/seminars, amounting to at least 24 ECTS credits. If passed, courses and lectures taken at well-estsablished, recognized institutions offering doctoral degree programs may be counted without grades according to their respective levels, even if transcripts are not provided upon request. A maximum of 50% of the required credits may be accepted without grades. The credits earned are documented in a Diploma Supplement.The completion of more extensive and cohesive programs (30-60 ECTS credits) is recorded in the Diploma Supplement.

The doctoral program is organized within the framework of the ProDocs, which is funded by Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF) and the Rectors’ Conference of the Swiss Universities (CRUS).

  • hold a master's degree or a licentiate from a Swiss university or Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, or an equivalent university degree and
  • you must also fulfill any other requirements set out by the relevant faculty or graduate school (e.g. specific average grades or a specific result in your master's degree, licentiate, diploma or state exams).
