History
In 1973, the Universität zu Lübeck became an independent scientific institution in the state of Schleswig-Holstein.
Education
We offer degree programmes in medicine, computer science, engineering, and natural sciences. Interdisciplinary programmes encompassing natural sciences, computer science, and medicine offer practical and up-to-date education underpinned by the highest standard of healthcare.
Research
The German Research Foundation (DFG) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) promote scientific exchange and joint research projects between the University of Lübeck and the Xiàn Jiaotong University in laser nanomedicine. They approved the application of Prof. Alfred Vogel from the Institute of Biomedical Optics at the University of Lübeck and Prof. Zhenxi Zhang from the School of Life Science and Technology at Xiàn Jiaotong University and are funding a three-year mobility project with 183,000 euros.

Housing services
The Lübeck Student Village at Anschützstraße 11/15 has rooms for students attending the Universität zu Lübeck, the University of Applied Sciences, or the Academy of Music.
Library services
Our main university library was set up jointly by the Universität zu Lübeck and the Lübeck University of Applied Sciences. This is a science library aimed at research and teaching, our programmes and career development in the fields of medicine, engineering, business, civil engineering, informatics and natural sciences.
ICT services
The ITSC provides services comprising computerised information processing and communications for research, teaching, studies and administration. ITSC is responsible for service, maintenance, operation and for ensuring availability of these centralised IT resources and media equipment.

Our university is intertwined in the many-sided cultural life of this Hanseatic city. We enrich this vibrant scene through our public lectures, colloquia, congresses, symposia, and concerts given by the university orchestra and choir.
