Housing services

  • Residential Life offers you more than just a place where you study and sleep. Your Residence Hall is a living and learning community designed to help you grow in all aspects of your life at one of the top liberal arts schools. Our goal is to be an extension of the Sacred Heart University classrooms by being the place where you continue conversations from class, or spend time studying by yourself.‌

The residential halls are an extension of the classroom and where students will spend their other time while at college. Students find that the residential halls are their home away from home. While living in the same location as their classmates and peers, relationships form that could last a lifetime.

Library services

The Ryan Matura Library welcomes Sacred Heart University students and faculty with services and resources that embody the University’s mission of teaching and learning. Students find a warm and welcoming place to study, an accomplished and dedicated library staff, and resources that carry out the learning objectives and high-impact practices at the heart of the University’s curricula.

ICT services

The Factory Supplies technical support to the SHU Community.  It is IT's combined Help Desk and Call Center.  Visiting one of our locations, you will be able to get help with all things IT related. The staff of full-time employees and part-time students are extensively trained to provide first level support in almost every area of IT.

Medical services

Enrollment in the Sacred Heart University Student Health Insurance is mandatory for all Full-Time Undergraduate Students.

Campus life

Apart from roommates and neighbors, some of the first people you will meet will be the hall staff.  Each Residence Hall has a Residence Hall Director (RHD) and a staff of undergraduate Resident Success Assistants (RSA). These people are selected from a group of highly-motivated individuals based upon their leadership abilities. There is a Resident Success Assistant on duty in each residence hall every Sunday through Wednesday from 8:00 PM until 1:00 AM, Thursday through Saturday from 8:00 PM until 2:00 AM, and remains on call until 8:00 AM the next morning. The RHD is available during posted office hours and to respond to emergencies at any time.

Sports facilities

  • The multi-purpose Campus Field, which opened in 1997, sits adjacent to the William H. Pitt Center and serves as the home for five of Sacred Heart's division I athletic programs.
  • The three-level, 141,000 square foot William H. Pitt Center, which opened in August 1997, serves as the home court for six of Sacred Heart NCAA Division I programs. The recently renovated complex features a four-court layout and seats over 2,000 people for basketball.
  • The Pioneer Tennis Courts, which serve as the home for the SHU men's and women's tennis teams, was built in 1994, and refurbished in 2006 and most recently in 2015.

Student clubs

Sacred Heart University offers over 60 student-run clubs and organizations to all undergraduates on campus. These clubs present students with opportunities to meet fellow students who share similar interests, to connect with faculty and staff outside of the classroom, and to become more connected to the Sacred Heart community. These groups hold weekly, sometimes bi-weekly meetings, and they focus on making an impact on the campus related to their club's purpose.

Sacred Heart University is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), one of the six regional associations in the United States that accredits schools and colleges.
