History
The Indiana legislature established the institution in 1820, one of the first public universities west of the Allegheny Mountains. Indiana University (IU) hosted its first international student in 1842 and organized its first study abroad program in 1879.
Education
Indiana University is a comprehensive public research university with campuses around the state of Indiana. Bloomington is IU’s flagship campus, and it is home to world-class business and music schools. IU also has the world’s first school of philanthropy, the nation’s first school of informatics and largest medical school. - There is a health center located on campus that offers a variety of services such as counseling, immunizations, a medical clinic, and a pharmacy.
- For more serious injuries, Bloomington also has a hospital not far from campus.
