History
Texas Tech University was created by legislative action in 1923 and has the distinction of being the largest comprehensive higher education institution in the state of Texas. The university is the major institution of higher education in a region larger than 46 of the nation's 50 states and is the only campus in Texas that is home to a major university, law school and medical school.
Education
Twelve colleges and schools makeup the academic areas at Texas Tech University and offer more than 150 undergraduate degrees, 100 graduate degrees, and 50 doctoral degrees.
Research
The Office of Research & Innovation facilitates excellent research, scholarship, and creative activities for all and promotes an academic environment embracing curiosity, innovation, debate, diversity, ethics and integrity.
The office supports responsible and safe conduct of research, faculty development and recognition, interdisciplinary collaborations, externally sponsored research, partnerships with industry and community and application of research for the benefit of society.

Career
The University Career Center promotes each student's success by providing career development, career exploration, and job search opportunities to undergraduate, graduate, international, distancestudents and alumni. Opportunities include career assessments, resume and cover letter critiques, mock interviews, personal statement critiques, faculty document critiques, salary negotiation assistance, interview room reservation, career events, and career exploration videos. Hire Red Raiders is the job posting board for employers seeking to hire TTU students and graduates. The Career Center staff is available to assist in identifying your marketable skills and career development needs.

Student Government Association
To strive for honor in the service and protection of the student body of Texas Tech University, through representing their interests by developing personal relationships. In addition, to work diligently to cultivate partnerships with the student body, administration, faculty, staff, and community, to maximize each student's educational and personal growth. Sports facilities
The Robert H. Ewalt Student Recreation Center opened its doors for the first time in the spring of 1980 and is one of the largest campus recreation facilities in the United States.Other facilities include a 6,530 square foot free weight room; a circuit training room with selectorized weight equipment; two cardiovascular equipment areas and an Entertainment Exercise Studio with over 120 pieces of cardiovascular equipment total; speed bag room; aerobics/dance studios; large mat room; 12 handball/racquetball courts; elevated 1/8 of mile jogging track; carpeted locker rooms with shower facilities and saunas; and a squash court. Located on the lower level is an Equipment Issue window.
