History

Drew was established in 1867 as a seminary, the antecedent of today’s Drew Theological School. In 1928, a gift led to the addition of the College of Liberal Arts, which began as a small college for men, became co-educational during the 1940s and grew significantly in the 1960s. In the early 1980s, it was granted what is still only the fourth Phi Beta Kappa chapter in the state.

Primary Functions of the Office of Institutional Research:

  • Supply institutional data on admissions, enrollment, financial aid, staff/faculty, library and finance to federal and state agencies, the Higher Education Data Sharing Consortium (HEDS), the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (“Middle States”) and the Association of Theological Schools (ATS).
  • Interpret data received from federal and state agencies, HEDS, Middle States, and the ATS.
  • Provide analytical support for enrollment management and budget preparation.
  • Coordinate University participation in national survey research efforts such as the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE).

Career

The Drew University Center for Internships and Career Development helps students to explore, clarify, and achieve their career goals. Career-related services and programs are provided to assist liberal arts students in making the transition from the University to their future careers; from student to professional. We teach students to:

  • Understand the relationship between their academic studies and careers
  • Make sound career decisions based on an evaluation of their goals, interests, abilities, and values
