About

History

NTU's institutional predecessor was Taihoku Imperial University, founded in 1928 by the Japanese colonial administration. The first president was Shidehara Tan Tairaka Hiroshi. In 1945, the Republic of China won the war of resistance against Japan, and Taiwan was handed over to the Nationalist government of China.

Education

NTU has 11 colleges, 54 departments,107 graduate institutes, and eight master's and PhD programs, which range from the natural sciences to the humanities, society, and the arts. It offers more than 7,800 courses each semester, placing it tops in the nation in terms of both breadth of academic fields and volume of programs. Students who study at NTU become a part of the nation’s richest center of learning and are given the opportunity to receive a diverse, superlative education.

Housing services

NTU provides a variety of on-campus housing for International, Overseas Chinese, Hong Kong and Macau Students. However, the university is unable to arrange accommodation for couples or families, nor provide assistance for finding off-campus housing.
