In 1956 a handful of Hamiltonian locals decided they wanted their own university. It seemed reasonable. New Zealand had four universities that had been established in the main centres since the end of last century.
The Research & Enterprise Office supports the University of Waikato's research activities and the process of creating value from research discoveries and innovation. When you are fully enrolled, we'll set you up with a user name and computer account. You can save assignments and notes on your account and you'll be able to access it wherever you log in on campus. Your user name is also your university email address. There are student computer labs throughout the University and a wireless network.
Public Health Services are publicly funded services that are free or low cost to New Zealand citizens, residents and some visa holders. Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand.
Waikato has the most beautiful campus in the country. You'll find Waikato has a laid-back and easy atmosphere and all our first-class facilities are in one location, building a strong sense of community.
