The University Of Nottingham Malaysia

The University of Nottingham is ranked 103 in the world and (18 in the UK) out of more than 1,000 universities in the QS World University Rankings and offers courses from the foundation level right up to doctoral degrees through its specialist schools and departments under the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, and Engineering and Science.

History

Following an invitation from the Ministry of education to establish an overseas campus, a partnership between Boustead Holdings Berhad, YTL Corporation Berhad and the University of Nottingham was formally announced in 1998.

The University of Nottingham welcomed its first students in September 2000. In 2015, UNMC celebrates its 15th year anniversary.

Education

The University of Nottingham Malaysia was established 21 years ago and is steadfast in its commitment to providing a comprehensive educational experience. It offers world-class teaching, led by academics who are some of the best researchers in their respective fields and a friendly and inclusive campus environment.

The university takes pride in providing an environment for students that is conducive to learning, teaching and carrying out research. This is supported by its strong library provision (physical and virtual), dedicated study areas and laboratories (computing, languages, sciences and engineering), as well as virtual labs for online lessons.

Here at University of Nottingham Malaysia, we deliver research that transforms lives and shape the future.We currently support more than 300 postgraduates, 280 research-active staff and 10 research themes with an active portfolio of funding from the government agencies, non-governmental organisations and commercial companies.

Student services

The University of Nottingham Malaysia offers a range of services and facilities for our students. Aside from state-of-the-art library, the university also excellent non-academic facilities such as a cafe and extensive sports centre to make life on campus more enjoyable.

The Student Association is at the heart of student social life with different clubs and societies to suit every preference. 

Housing services

The University offers a variety of On-Campus Accommodation where learning facilities and amenities are all just a short walk away. Newer accommodation consisting of six halls of residence are located in Student Village North (J Halls), while Student Village South (I Halls) consist of five halls of residence completed when the purpose-built campus was first constructed.

Each residential hall has its own Hall Warderns (staff) and Hall Tutors (postgraduate students) who will be available to care for your safety and welfare. Entrance into your halls are via door access control using your student ID card.

Library services

Library Services is responsible for managing information resources for learning, teaching and research and providing support on their use.

The core collection covers materials that meet the taught courses offered by the university with generous allocations in developing resources required for research purposes.

ICT services

SNS is a high speed internet link for students living in the halls of residences of The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.

All campus halls have access points that broadcast WLAN connection to the residents.

Medical services

The On-Campus Medical Clinic is operated by Kumpulan Medic, an independent health provider, whereby a fee will be charged for consultations.

If required, the centre is also able to dispense medicines and arrange for laboratory tests.

Campus life

Sports facilities

The emphasis on sporting excellence can be seen throughout the University.

The use of the sports facilities is free of charge and available to all staff and students. 

The Sports Centre offers numerous sports amenities:

  • sports hall with 6 badminton courts, two basketball courts, two volleyball courts, netball court & futsal court
  • gymnasium with treadmills, rowing machine, bikes etc.
  • two outdoor tennis courts
  • outdoor multipurpose court with basketball, volleyball & futsal
  • outdoor multipurpose Bermuda field with two football field, rugby & cricket pitch
  • Martial Arts Room 
  • outdoor astro turf with five-a-side futsal and hockey pitch
