Housing services

As soon as your plans for a research stay at UiO become definite, we recommend that you make finding suitable accommodation a top priority. This holds especially true if family will be accompanying you.

Since the demand for reseacher housing at UiO usually by far exceeds existing facilities, private housing options should be investigated from the very beginning and in addition to a possible application for researcher housing.

Library services

The University of Oslo has 19 libraries. At the library's webpages you will find information on opening hours, study rooms, maps and more.

ICT services

Your local IT staff can help you with most IT-related problems and qustions, including provision of access credentials for the IT services, installing applications, connecting to the UiO network, setting up printers and printing options, and more.

Medical services

All students from countries outside the EU/EEA should have private or public health insurance to cover their first weeks in Norway.

Campus life

The University's buildings are spread out over four parts of Oslo. The main campus, Blindern, is located on the western outskirts of the city centre.

Sports facilities

A variety of activities are available for individual exercise or under the supervision of fully qualified instructors, in both indoor and outdoor facilities. This includes the sand volleyball court, soccer field and table tennis. Equipment is available at the Dormitory reception.

Student clubs

In Norway many people are active members of a voluntary organization. The organizations serve as a meeting place and the tradition of voluntary work is very common in Norwegian society.
