History

Following the Gulf War in 1991, a team led by Elias Bou Saab from the American College visited the Gulf to establish relationships with various ministries of higher education as well as the region’s schools.

Education

  • The university promotes education through exchange programs, study abroad seminars, STEP conference, merit-based scholarships, guest speakers (usually thought leaders in their domain), and projects with industry leaders, and faculty supporting students in regional competitions.
  • The university guides students to use their knowledge and skills for personal and professional fulfillment. 
  • The institute develops critical thinking, effective communication and lifelong learning skills. It also foster an appreciation of the history and on-going development of human culture; develop critical thinking, effective communication and lifelong learning skills.

Research

To truly get the most of their AUD experience, students must get involved in the college activities. 

Whether it’s through joining a club, or starting one of their own or perhaps creating a special one-of-a-kind event. 

The university also include student activities that include over 50 active student clubs ranging from cultural clubs, performance clubs, special interest clubs, departmental clubs; in addition to active intramurals held each term and numerous annual events including a WOW Orientation (Week of Welcome), AUD Desert Safari, Ramadan Tent, Winter Ball, Thanksgiving Day and UAE National Day, International Night, AUD Gala Dinner and Award Ceremony among others.

The AUD Health Center, promotes, improves, and sustain a healthy campus environment by providing accessible, high-quality care, health supervision, and educational programs, which encourages AUD community to maintain their overall well-being, and improve student’s learning.

Campus life

AUD is strategically situated next to Dubai Media City and Dubai Internet City, business communities that are home to such prestigious firms as Sony, Reuters, CNN, McGraw Hill Publishing, Microsoft, Oracle and IBM. 

It is located fifteen minutes from the heart of Dubai’s financial and commercial centers and 25 minutes from Dubai International Airport.

All academic buildings are well equipped with the latest technology, which cater to the needs of the academic programs. 

The Student Center houses indoor sports facilities, a barber shop, a beauty salon, a travel agency, a bank, a copy center, a bookstore, a supermarket, and food courts. 

Sports facilities

From the highly competitive athlete to the regular fitness fanatic, Dubai encourages all fitness levels to get up and move, by offering a host of programs, facilities and competitive arenas to suit all sporting abilities. 

Sporting spectators can also be treated to some world-class sport live on their doorstep with the likes of international cricket, motorsports, tennis, golf and rugby tournaments on Dubai’s sporting calendar during the cooler months.

Student clubs

Immersing yourself in student life on campus is vital for all-round development and we believe that extracurricular activities provide enrichment and opportunities for growth in areas other than academia.  

The clubs and societies at AUD allows you to pursue a personal interest outside of the classroom, while helping develop your leadership skills, giving you a competitive advantage when the time comes for apply for jobs. We have a host of societies to choose from, and if you don’t see what you like then feel free to create your own!
