About

History

UNC Greensboro was established by legislative enactment on February 18, 1891. The City of Greensboro, situated near the geographical center of the state, was selected for the location of the new institution after its citizens approved $30,000 in bonds for its first buildings. R.S. Pullen and R.T. Gray gave the original 10-acre site.

Do you want to join more than 5,700 Spartans who choose to live in one of 28 residence halls on campus at UNCG? Find out here. The most important questions families and students have are answered, so you can feel ready to make the educated decision that works for you. Here’s what you’ll find:

Student Life

Campus life

UNC Greensboro is home to a rich array of students who find one thing in common – a welcoming campus, and a place to belong, thrive and achieve their best, each in their own way. Here they immerse themselves in a transformative experience that combines rigorous learning with tenacious, intentional support. They develop their abilities, deepen their understanding and hone their work ethic.

Sports facilities

The UNCG athletics departments, its staff and gameday personnel are committed to providing complete accessibility to all facilities, fair and equal treatment of patrons and guests, and meaningful compliance with the letter and spirit of the law.

Student clubs

The Graduate Student Association is a student fee funded organization formed by students to promote the interests of the graduate student body at UNCG.  We meet monthly during the fall and spring semesters in joint senate and executive board meetings to discuss issues relevant to the general membership. The association is student operated and governed.

We believe that it is our responsibility to act as good university citizens by informing ourselves about the actions of the university, the community, and the state, and to advocate for the interests of all UNCG graduate students in terms of employment, professional development, and school/life balance.
