Singapore University of Technology and Design

The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) is established in collaboration with MIT to advance knowledge and nurture technically grounded leaders and innovators to serve societal needs.

PhD Programmes

  • Founded: 2009

  • The SUTD undergraduate programme is divided into two distinct portions, Freshmore (Terms 1 to 3) and Pillar (Terms 4 to 8). The Freshmore terms provide students with the fundamentals which prepare them for a specialisation in any of the four pillars.
  • The MIT-SUTD Dual Masters’ Programme maximizes students’ potential in the fields of technology and design with coursework at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and research at SUTD.
  • The PhD programme brings together the best minds in the fields and conduct breakthrough research that will make a difference to the world.

We view the domain of technology and design as an emerging force rather than an established practice.

These fields offer enormous intellectual, economic and social opportunities as well as an unrivalled edge to impact and lead in Singapore, the region and beyond.

Student services

The Student Government serves you and upholds your interests. Our members act as welfare custodians, bringing students, staff and faculty together through effective communication.

We are the catalyst for Student Initiatives, encouraging spontaneity and breaking convention. We also work hand-in-hand with all the student clubs to promote the growth of the students as well as the development of their ideas and passion.

Housing services

SUTD's staff and student housing blocks are conveniently located on the SUTD campus just a stone's throw away from the academic blocks and facilities. Housing is spread across five blocks, three for student housing and two for staff housing.

Freshmore undergraduates are required to reside at student housing on campus during Terms 1, 2 and 3. Designed to promote interaction and collaboration, the residential living programme aims to foster a sense of community and ownership, and build strong friendships that carry through the undergraduate years and beyond.

Library services

We believe you will find the Library:

  • a creative environment that encourages research, learning and discovery
  • provides an experience of discovery and learning through serendipity and using all your senses
  • opens minds to possibilities through engagement and partnerships
  • convenient and accessible with a 24x7 digital library
  • conducive for study and research and yet relaxing and fun.

ICT services

Education Roaming, also known as eduroam, provides a secure roaming access service for the International Research and Education community.

It is a wireless service that allows eduroam users to login to free secured Internet surfing while visiting other participating universities, or local institutes of higher learning (IHLs).
