About

History

Florida Tech was founded in 1958 as "Brevard Engineering College." It all started as an idea in the mind of Jerome P. Keuper, Ph.D., a visionary physicist working at Cape Canaveral (now NASA Kennedy Space Center).

Education

Florida Tech comprises four distinct academic colleges, each with a strong focus, as well as an interdisciplinary honors college. Explore the colleges to learn more about the schools, departments, research centers, laboratories and programs housed within.

Research

It is through research that faculty members advance their fields, students enhance their learning, and the university creates change for the benefit of our planet and all of its inhabitants. Every day, pioneering faculty and dedicated students work to uncover the mysteries of phenomena like lightning, autism and supermassive black holes, and to find answers to questions such as, “What can be done to mitigate species decline in the Indian River Lagoon?” and “Should airplanes be piloted from the ground?” or “How can we sustain human life on Mars?”

Career

Career Services provides career and job search services to Florida Tech students and alumni. Our mission is to help students in the development of career plans and job search skills. Career Services acts as a liaison among Florida Tech students, alumni, faculty, staff and employers.

Online students and students attending classes through Extended Studies or Florida Tech Online do not meet the eligibility requirements.

Student Life

Campus life

What's it like to live and learn at Florida Tech? While the answer differs for every student, there are a few things we all pretty much agree on. The people are friendly, open-minded and passionate about their work. For an idea of the place, think "top engineering school meets top vacation spot." We're equal parts innovation and sunshine. Florida Tech offers a comprehensive residential college experience, meaning that campus is a place to live, learn, dine, play, explore and grow. From university-wide events and community activities to service opportunities and more than 100 student organizations, there's always something to do.

Sports facilities

The Clemente Center for Sports and Recreation is a 62,000 square foot facility that houses the varsity gym, intramural gym, weight room and a racquetball court. The two gyms, along with one meeting room and a beautiful aerobics room, are available for rental for sporting events as well as larger conferences, banquets, and galas. A small concessions / food court area is located off the main lobby.

Student clubs

The Office of Student Life makes it easy for you to use and develop your talents through Student Involvement. Getting involved on campus helps you build career and personal skills that will assist you long after you leave college. You will meet new people, share ideas, and learn more about yourself.
