History
The story of our university began with its founding in September of 1857, when the first students arrived to study at its predecessor, Assumption College.
In the more than 150 years that have since passed, the small, liberal arts college has grown into today's non-denominational, comprehensive, teaching and learning university.
Education

As a mid-size university supporting 16,000 students, UWindsor provides a broad range of academic opportunities. As an undergraduate or graduate student, you can choose from over 120 majors and minors and 55 master's and doctoral degrees in subjects like Engineering, Forensics and Business.Research
Our focus is on supporting and promoting research at the University of Windsor, in all faculties, schools, and research centres and institutes. This is accomplished by a variety of means. The Office of Research and Innovation Services staff members provide services in:
- Identifying funding sources and research opportunities for faculty
- Providing information about funding sources, programs, deadlines, application material, regulations and policies
- Acting as liaison with funding agencies on behalf of researchers
- Reviewing applications for research grants to insure consistency with the agency’s conditions and the University’s policies
- Assisting in the development, submission and tracking of grant proposals and contracts

Student services

Housing services
Our residence halls are conveniently located throughout the campus where it's only a short walk to food outlets, recreational facilities, library, Registrars, Bookstore, student centre and banks. Bedrooms are furnished so there’s no need to purchase items such as a bed, desk, lamp or chairs. If you choose to live off campus, the University of Windsor Students Alliance maintains a list of off-campus housing.

The Leddy Library is the main Library for the University of Windsor campus.

Medical services
The clinic at Student Health Services is a medical practice. The clinic can take care of all your health care needs providing confidential, student-centred health care, including comprehensive medical care, counselling, and referrals. All students receive automatic membership to the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance, which represents undergraduate students from every faculty at the University of Windsor.
