The University of Ulsan was established in 1970 by the esteemed late Asan Chung Ju-Yung, founder of the world-renowned Hyundai business group. The University of Ulsan proudly continues in Asan’s innate guiding philosophies of pioneering entrepreneurship, love for mankind, and thirst for learning.

The superb medical research and education facilities at the University of Ulsan is also backed by the strong research potential in biological sciences. The department of biological science tops the Korean universities in research and education, accomplishing a number of national R&D projects such as the BK21, SRC, University for Creative Korea, and other Bio-Medical technology development projects.

University Ranking
Student services
The Global Lounge, located on the second floor of the International Building, is a cultural hub where students, domestic and international, meet, socialize and make friends through diverse social events and programs. Since its opening in September 2010 the Global Lounge has been the most popular place on campus for students to promote global cultural diversity. The Global Lounge also offers a range of services to international students. When you have questions about health insurance, part-time work, international exchanges, housing or visa issues, the Global Lounge is the place to go. Advisors are always here to help you.
Housing services
International Residence Hall, with 117 rooms, provides International students with comfortable residence environment as well as facilities necessary for living so that students can more focus on study.All international students are accommodated in a double room in International Residence Hall. Each room is furnished with bed, desk, chair, closet, table, telephone, A/C, fridge.
Library services
Asan Library has approximately 1 million books and references. The library also contains 29 sets of Web DBs which enable professors and students to get access to tens of thousands electronic journals (e-journals) and periodicals of most academic fields. It can accommodate up to 2,500 visitors at a time and also offers services to local residents.
ICT services
Internet access is available in all rooms.
Medical services
The UOU College of Medicine has provided advanced medical education and clinical services since 1988 in close collaboration with the affiliated hospitals - the Asan Medical Center, and the Ulsan University Hospital(UUH).
Campus life
On-campus housing is the most convenient place for students to live while studying at any university. The UOU dormitories provide a safe and comfortable living environment and enable students to enjoy being close to classrooms, library, cafeteria, and Sports Center. UOU residential halls consist of 2 men's and 2 women's dormitory buildings, and International dormitory for international students supervised by staff on a 24/7 basis.
Sports facilities
Asan Sports Center, which was named after the founder of the University, opened in 2005. The center of 11,550m² has an international-standard swimming pool with 8 (eight) 50-meter lanes, 24 indoor golf ranges, a basketball court, a fitness center and an exercise room. The center serves the UOU students for reduced rates, and it is also open to the local residents.
Student clubs
UOU students actively participate in extracurricular activities on campus. As of 2021, there are about 64 student societies on a variety of topics and interests including sports, arts, social service and religion. They help students expand their experiences and perspectives by providing a venue for social exchange.
