Amirkabir University of Technology has 8 dormitories for boys, 8 for girls and 4 family dorms that can house more than 4,500 students. All dormitories are conveniently located around campus. Iranian students live with students from other nationalities in a friendly home setting in AUT dormitories.
Amenities each dormitory include free unlimited Wi-Fi throughout the building, laundry facilities, on-site convenience store, facilities for table tennis, darts, foosball, chess and etc. that students can use.
Live and study in one of the greatest cities in the world – you’re just minutes away from Theatre-Shahr, Vahdat Hall and all the museums, shopping, theatres and excitement Tehran has to offer.The library of the Department of Industrial Engineering is currently housing a large number of books, periodicals, material resources, CDs and students’ thesis in specialized fields that aim to meet the needs of undergraduate’s postgraduate students in their courses and research projects.
A much greater collection book, period, CDs is available at the University Central Library.
University's counseling center through providing mental health services in the form of four units of psychiatry, psychometric, psychoanalysis, and psychotherapy, tries to help to the mental health of the academic community, including professors, staff and students.
AUT has a sports complex which includes a multipurpose hall for sports (indoor soccer, basketball, volleyball, badminton, handball), soccer field, tennis halls, gyms, aerobics hall, shooting hall, swimming pool, sauna and hot tub. Also, since 2013, a private ladies lounge has been established for the exclusive use of women’s sporting activities like aerobics, yoga and etc. In addition, a public sporting hall started operating in 2012 in which till now, table tennis classes and roller blading classes have been held.
The university was established in 1958. It is accredited by Ministry of Science Research and Technology, Iran.

The university is one of the top three universities in Iran. It includes many professional professors specially for computer science and bioinformatics. I got introduced to different aspects of computer sciences and I could experience each aspect through our projects and i found my interests over time.
Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT) provided an excellent educational foundation. The mathematics department's strength is evident, and the university caters to various engineering fields. I spent four years in the energy engineering department, a relatively recent program. Initially, there were limitations in experienced faculty. However, I witnessed a positive trend, with the department's faculty quality improving considerably throughout my studies.
Amirkabir University’s Electrical Engineering program offers a strong foundation in theoretical and practical aspects, backed by experienced faculty and cutting-edge labs. The curriculum is rigorous, fostering problem-solving skills and innovation. I particularly appreciated the opportunities for hands-on projects and industry collaborations, which bridged the gap between academics and real-world applications. However, some areas could be improved, such as enhancing the availability of elective courses and reducing bureaucratic hurdles in research approvals. Additionally, expanding international partnerships would elevate the global exposure of students. Overall, my experience was highly rewarding, and I would recommend it to those seeking a solid engineering education with an emphasis on research and innovation.
