Studying my master’s in Biology in Turkey has been life-changing. As an African student, adapting was challenging at first, but learning Turkish opened many doors. I’ve grown academically and personally, made lifelong friends, and embraced a new culture that now feels like home. It’s a journey I deeply cherish.

Education and enlightenment
At first months of my studying(after one year preparation), I was having difficulties understanding and processing information about literature and poems. Thanks to the great professors, I grasped the idea of art and literature.

incompetent teachers
The majority of the instructors within the English language and literature department lack qualifications and possess outdated knowledge. While there have been a few competent instructors, many appear to be favored and well-connected. One instructor, in particular, demonstrated a religious bias and displayed prejudice against students who appeared modern, resulting in unjust treatment toward myself and others. Additionally, there's a concerning pattern of immaturity among instructors, with select students receiving preferential treatment in grading and deadlines due to gossip and favoritism.
Furthermore, the department's involvement in the Erasmus program is troubling. While other faculties in the university send multiple students, our department only sends two. It's unclear why this discrepancy exists, leading to speculation that tutors may be favoring themselves in this matter.
Moreover, tutors tend to code-switch frequently, which further complicates communication and creates barriers in learning.
