We encourage teams from schools to come to the conference together, attend workshops, and bring back shared experiences and knowledge to put to use at your school. Save money when four or more people from the same school register together.
Suez Canal University was in my city, so I didn't have to deal with the commute a lot of my classmates had. That was honestly a bigger advantage than I thought at the time.
First year broke me a bit. I had no idea how university actually worked. Professors had expectations nobody mentioned, and I just didn't meet them. But by the end of first year, it made sense. Turned out they actually cared. Not in some generic way. They genuinely gave a shit about whether we learned.
The coursework was predictable at first. Math, physics, chemistry. Then circuits and electronics hit different. I spent way too much time figuring out signal processing because it didn't click immediately. Control systems were interesting once I stopped fighting the math. Communications and networking made sense because you could see how it applied to real problems. Microwave engineering was weird but valuable.
Late in the program they added AI and machine learning. Image processing. Neural networks. The design projects got harder but also better. You had to think instead of just follow a checklist. The graduation project was actually mine to own, which felt different from everything else.
What I remember most isn't the courses. It's the people. The Dean, Vice Dean, the faculty. They were genuinely good humans in positions where they could've been the usual type of authority figure. They weren't. That mattered more than any course did.
