Wellesley’s first president, Ada Howard, and nearly all of the College’s early educators and administrators were women. The first students, numbering 314, moved into College Hall and began classes in 1875. From that first class, 18 were graduated in 1879.

The College views the accommodation request process as an interactive process, and values the input received from the individual requesting the accommodation. Students must request accommodations in a timely manner to allow the Accessibility and Disability Resources (ADR) staff to determine appropriate and reasonable accommodations.
Wellesley's 500 acres include a private lake, a golf club, groves of conifers and hardwoods, and winding paths through open meadows. Stunning brick and stone buildings rise from wooded hills. From almost every window on campus, the view opens out to an inviting vista—through pine trees to the shores of Lake Waban, down sweeping lawns to century-old oaks with magnificent gnarled branches.
The Keohane Sports Center Fitness Center is open for on-campus students, faculty, staff and union employees in the testing protocol. Access to campus buildings is limited to visitors on College business. Swipe access is required to enter Keohane Sports Center (KSC): interior spaces, including the fitness center and locker rooms. The building will be closed to ALL outside memberships (alumnae, professor emeriti, family, children).
There are many great societies to choose from, including Tau Zeta Epsilon (the art and music society), Alpha Phi Sigma (the lecture society), Zeta Alpha (the literature society), the Shakespeare Society, and Alpha Kappa Chi (the history society).
Accreditation of an institution of higher education by the Commission indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of institutional quality periodically applied though a peer review process. An accredited college or university is one which has available the necessary resources to achieve its stated purposes through appropriate educational programs, is substantially doing so, and gives reasonable evidence that it will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. Institutional integrity is also addressed through accreditation.

I enjoyed my time there, the connections I made, the classes I took, and learning from the professors. It's near enough to Boston that you can visit and yet far enough away that you can enjoy some quiet on campus. Wellesley offers great internship and job connections.
My sophomore knowledge may be a little limited, but my experience at Wellesley College was pretty good! It's a beautiful campus with lovely old buildings, small classes, and friendly students. Although social life may be limited, I personally like the smaller campus, which gives a greater sense of community. But I will say that the indoor food requires attention, the food is often repetitive and quickly becomes boring. Although I think it might be due to limited resources, it shouldn't result in serving chicken nuggets and fries 3-4 times a week. The faculty are pleasant and mostly approachable and ready to help! There are ways to get involved, whether through organizations or a dual degree. And research opportunities are available through the faculty, professors (mainly in science) hold positions in personal laboratories. And during the summer, various programs are available for research! Overall so far so good and I'm enjoying my time. Pretty good ! Excellent environment to learn and promote a global view of the world. Faculty and your peers will have the greatest impact on your experience. So if you make a good choice, you will definitely be satisfied.
As a liberal arts college, Wellesley offers its students the space to explore a multitude of academic interests. Whether it be inter-disciplinary interests or interests in specific categories (humanities, STEM, Social Sciences etc), Wellesley courses have numerous classes that will cater to your interest. If Wellesley doesn't have the class you're looking for, its partner schools MIT, Olin, and Babson will and it's just as easy to access those courses! The College is meant for students who are independent, curious, resourceful and strong-willed. Advocacy and self-assurance is a must to succeed on this campus!
