With 18 faculties, 2 colleges and 1 school currently operating, MSU has been widely recognized as one of Thailand’s fastest-growing universities. The total enrollment has also increased, from fewer than 10,000 in its earlier years to more than 40,000 students at present. Many faculty buildings have been constructed on Khamriang Campus, now the administrative and academic center.
Mahasarakham University is strongly determined to seek and accumulate knowledge and wisdom for academic excellence through studies of local wisdom and the integration of universal disciplines for individuals’ intellectual growth andself-development in the aspects of academics, ethics, and morality.
At MSU, you will be given a multidisciplinary learning environment underpinned by noted faculties, fortified parental care and counseling, matched with good academic and career guidance.
There is on campus accommodation at both the new and old campuses. On the new campus there are Ajarn’s (teacher’s) apartments as well as student accommodation. You can find apartments available either on the old or new campuses or off campus with many locations available all of the way between downtown and the new campus.
Availability of accommodation fluctuates with session times. A large percentage of MSU students come from other provinces, living ‘away from home’, so there is a big demand for on campus accommodation.
However, there is a large amount of accommodation available nearby and more is being built continuously to cater for the increasing number of students.
The MSU library or Academic Resource Centre (AREC) is located conveniently in the center of the Khamriang Campus. It is open from Monday to Saturday 8 am to 8 pm and Sunday 8 am to 6 pm.
Resources in the library may be borrowed by students and staff who have appropriate MSU ID. When borrowing, the ID card is either shown to library staff or used to access the library automation system.
The MSU Computer Center is in the Computer Center Building. It is open from 8 am to 8 pm Mon to Fri and 8 am to 6 pm Sat and Sun. Access is available to both students and staff by showing the appropriate ID. A single computer can be accessed for internet use or staff may book a computer lab for class use.
Facilities are available for swimming, basketball, takraw, badminton, tennis and football.
There are many student clubs and associations. The easiest way to find them is to enquire at the Division of Student Affairs Office or the Academic Resource Center.
