Lingnan University is the liberal arts university in Hong Kong and we have the longest established tradition among the local institutions of higher education. Our history can be dated back to 1888, when our forerunner, the Christian College in China, was founded in Guangzhou, and to 1967, when the institution, as Lingnan College, was re-established in Hong Kong. In 2015, Lingnan University was named as one of the “Top 10 Liberal Arts College in Asia” by Forbes.
We offer undergraduate, taught postgraduate and research postgraduate programmes in the areas of Arts, Business and Social Sciences, and our broad curriculum covers an array of general education and interdisciplinary courses to provide students with a firm knowledge foundation across different subjects. Career Advising Services of SSC assists students to make informed career choices commensurate with their talents, interests and aptitude in preparation for employment after graduation. Career education and development programmes are organized to guide students through different phases of the career planning stage. Recruitment talks and placement activities are held throughout the year to provide the latest job market information and channels for direct interaction with employers.We also work in partnerships with academic departments, employers and alumni to provide career education programmes and job preparation training to students.
The ten blocks of student hostels in Lingnan University provide around 2,600 hostel places for our Lingnan students. In each hostel, there are a common room floor, residential floors, and quarters for wardens and senior tutors on the top floor. Tutor rooms are located on residential floors. The student hostels are divided into three zones. Free LAN, WIFI service and electricity are provided. Air-conditioning fee will be shared by roommates in the same room.
The Library is located in the Patrick Lee Wan Keung Academic Building of the Lingnan Campus. Starting from September 2005, in addition to the original first and second floors, two newly-constructed floors have been operating. The expansion allows more room for accommodating the constantly increasing resources.Since our beginning in 1968, the Library has grown to hold more than 545,000 volumes of books, bound journals and audio-visual materials. The core collections cover various areas of our liberal arts curriculum, including arts and humanities, social sciences, and business studies. In order to keep up with the speedy pace of technology advancement, the Library has introduced a wide range of electronic services, such as online full-text databases, CD-ROMs, wireless LAN and different types of automatic alert services.
The major components of the IT infrastructure include the Campus Network, servers and PCs, computer labs and multimedia lecture theatres and lecture rooms. These components are to be maintained to meet the administrative and academic computing needs of the University with a high degree of reliability and cost-effectiveness.

Both indooor and outdoor facilities are provided our Sports Complex. Air-conditioned indoor facilities include the Jackie Chan Gymnasium (can be used in different configurations as 6 badminton courts, 2 volleyball courts, 1 basketball court or handball court), 2 squash courts, 1 table tennis room, and the Lam Kau Ylu Fitness Centre. Outdoor facilities include the Tin Ka Ping Pool. tennis court and the Multi-purpose Outdoor Sports Ground.
The Lingnan University Students’ Union (LUSU) established in 1967, registered with the Societies Registration Office, is the only organization which represents the entire full-time student population of the University. The Students’ Union considers all full-time students including Undergraduate students, Associate Degree student and Postgraduate student as its members.
The Business Administration Society (BAS) of Lingnan University Students’ Union was established in 1996. It consists of all BBA undergraduate students from the six majors, namely Accounting, Finance, General Business Management, Human Resources Management, Marketing and Risk and Insurance Management. It aims at upholding the interest of its members, promoting the development of business studies, and enhancing the connection with the business faculty and external organizations.
