From its founding in 1833, Oberlin College has been a school with a mission, or rather, many missions. Beginning with abolition and coeducation, and most recently addressing the challenges of climate change, Oberlin has always been—to quote historian Geoffrey Blodgett ’53—a “peculiar mix of scholarly ambition and stubborn moral idealism.”
Oberlin uniquely combines an outstanding professional school of music with a leading undergraduate college of arts and sciences. The Oberlin Conservatory of Music provides flexible programs to prepare students as professional musicians and teachers of music. Deeply committed to academic excellence, the College of Arts and Sciences offers a rich and balanced curriculum in the humanities, social sciences, mathematics, and natural sciences. Within that framework the college expects that students will work closely with the faculty to design an educational program appropriate to their own particular interests, needs, and long-term goals.
The created the Science and Technology Research Opportunities for a New Generation (STRONG) program to help underserved populations get their chance to change the world. Oberlin first-year students come to campus in the summer to participate in innovative research with Oberlin professors and meet other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) students. Oberlin provides a wide range of residential options to suit the varied personalities and interests of its students. Oberlin's residence hall system includes traditional residence halls, program houses, theme communities, co-operative residences, and apartments and private houses. Oberlin has no fraternities or sororities.
The Mary Church Terrell Main Library, housed in Seeley G. Mudd Center, remains busy with both academic and social activities. The structure and amenities of its Academic Commons encourages community and collaboration.
The Houck Center for Information Technology (CIT) provides access to a wide variety of information technology resources including e-mail; Windows and Macintosh computer labs; online registration for classes; space to store and back up files on a college server; and server space for setting up a personal website.
Student Health Services provides primary care services to all students at Oberlin College, regardless of insurance coverage. Students may see a physician, certified nurse practitioner, certified nurse midwife, or registered nurse. We also maintain a network of local experts who can offer additional specialty care as needed.
Campus Safety supports a safe environment in which all members of the college community can learn, live, teach, and work. Open 24 hours a day, the staff responds to potential criminal incidents, suspicious activity, requests for assistance, and emergency situations. We also alert appropriate representatives of the college when they are needed after regular business hours.
The Department of Athletics and Physical Education is inseparable from the educational mission of Oberlin College. The department will endeavor to instill in our athletes, student body, and other stakeholders the joy, power, and extraordinary personal growth that come to those who pursue athletic excellence, physical fitness, and overall wellness.

I like it here overall :) People are friendly and collaborative! Professors are really thoughtful. The weather can be pretty cold cause Ohio but otherwise everything is cool. It is what you make of it, so try to make use of all their resources.
