History
The historical roots of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) can be traced back to 1853 when the first formalised programme of in-service teacher training was introduced in St Pauls College in 1881. EdUHK enjoys more than 160 years of experiences in providing teacher training and education.

Committed to the Education-plus approach, the primary mission of EdUHK is to lead educational innovation, and to promote and support the strategic development of teaching, teacher education and disciplines complementary to education by preparing outstanding and morally responsible educators and professionals while supporting their lifelong learning.

Research
As the city’s largest teacher education institution, EdUHK aims to produce knowledge that can be applied to learning and teaching with the aim of improving professional practice and increasing the transfer of new knowledge and skills to society for community betterment. The University emphasises the translation of research results and findings into the promotion of positive change in education, social development and the enhancement of human well-being. We do this through applied research that creates inspiring and innovative knowledge with strong academic, professional, social and policy impacts on education and the wider community.

University Ranking
Student services
Together with the Global Affairs Office (GAO), the Student Affairs Office (SAO) provides non-local students with supporting services throughout their course of studies at the University.
Housing services
There four government-funded student halls/quarters on Tai Po Campus, namely Northcote Hall, Grantham Hall, Robert Black Hall and the Jockey Club Student Quarters, providing about 2,200 residential places. First two years on-campus accommodation will be provided for international students admitted after 2024-25.
Library services
The Library supports the University’s mission to lead educational innovation, and to promote and support the strategic development of teaching, teacher education and disciplines complementary to education.
Medical services
The Student Affairs Office aims to promote and maintain the physical and psychological well-being of EdUHK students by provisions of primary health care and health education. On-campus Medical Clinic is provided to all students.

Nestled in a scenic mountain range, just one hour from Hong Kong’s business districts, The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) offers tranquility and world-class scholarship in a vibrant, inclusive community.
Sports facilities
Students can enjoy a wide range of facilities, such as gym rooms, tennis courts and swimming pools, located at the Amenities and Sports Complex on campus and the EdUHK Sports Centre located in Pak Shek Kok, Tai Po. Shuttle bus service running between Tai Po Campus and Sports Centre is also arranged for students to travel conveniently.
In 2018, EdUHK was granted full self-accrediting status for all its programme offerings.
