History
Kagawa University has a history of engaging actively in academic exchanges with overseas institutions. As early as in 1975, professors from the Faculty of Agriculture had visited Asian, African and South American countries to carry out research, provide technical and academic training, and to give lectures at various universities.

University Ranking
Student services
Kagawa University has a system to support international students in their daily lives. Tutors are assigned to new students when they arrive at Kagawa University. Some of the assistance provided by tutors includes finding accommodation (if necessary), shopping for necessities, and filing immigration and health documents at public offices. There are student clubs to facilitate the interaction of international students with local students as well as members of the local community. Furthermore, the university provides counseling with regards to mental and physical health, legal issues, harassment, and matters related to academics.
Housing services
The international house was opened in 1991. It has 32 single rooms and common facilities such as kitchens, laundries, and shower-bath rooms. Room charges are 5,900 yen per month. Utilities are not included in this bill. Generally one year residency is allowed. Because of the limited number of rooms, not all international students can be accommodated.
Library services
- The Library actively collects literary works to arouse students’ interests in reading and help them develop strong characters.
- The Library is an official member of the European Info (EUi) in Japan. Every year, it works with the Delegation of the European Union to Japan to organize an event to improve public understanding of the European Union.
ICT services
The information Technology is one of join institution for research and education in kagawa Uniiversity. A signifianf mision of ITC is to provide the information infrastructure of the university. ITC equips university network environment to supprt research, education, administration and regional information services in the university.
Medical services
If you need to see a doctor due to illness or injury, you are advised to visit a hospital or clinic. There are general hospitals, specialized clinics and private clinics in Japan. Where you would go depends on the nature of your illness or injury. When choosing a hospital/clinic, it is a good idea to ask a Japanese person who has lived in the neighborhood for a long time.
Campus life
Besides the basic room rental, students pay a separate bill for electricity, water and gas depending on individual consumption. Dedicated meters record this consumption on a monthly basis. Based on these records, the manager of the International House issues the bills and students pay for these bills directly to the manager.
