Some of the assistance provided by tutors includes finding accommodation (if necessary), shopping for necessities, and filing immigration and health documents at public offices. There are student clubs to facilitate the interaction of international students with local students as well as members of the local community. Furthermore, the university provides counseling with regards to mental and physical health, legal issues, harassment, and matters related to academics.

The international house was opened in 1991. It has 32 single rooms and common facilities such as kitchens, laundries, and shower-bath rooms. Room charges are 5,900 yen per month. Utilities are not included in this bill. Generally one year residency is allowed. Because of the limited number of rooms, not all international students can be accommodated.

Medical services

If you need to see a doctor due to illness or injury, you are advised to visit a hospital or clinic. There are general hospitals, specialized clinics and private clinics in Japan. Where you would go depends on the nature of your illness or injury. When choosing a hospital/clinic, it is a good idea to ask a Japanese person who has lived in the neighborhood for a long time.

Campus life

Besides the basic room rental, students pay a separate bill for electricity, water and gas depending on individual consumption. Dedicated meters record this consumption on a monthly basis. Based on these records, the manager of the International House issues the bills and students pay for these bills directly to the manager.
