History
Istanbul Aydin University (IAU) was established on May 18, 2007, as an initiative of Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation,according to Law Number 5656 appendix-73 that was published in the Official Journal.
Education
Istanbul Aydin University has academic units of 10 faculties with 55 programs, 3 graduate schools with 40 programs , 1 school of foreign languages with 2 programs , 3 vocational schools with 154 programs.
Research
We also have Turkish Language Teaching, Application and Research Centre (TÖMER) which aims to teach Turkish language to foreigners by using contemporary instructional techniques in a contemporary environment. The level of Turkish language of our TÖMER graduates will enable them to move on to their university education in Turkish.

Best Global Universities Rankings by U.S. News & World Report presents all the top universities from the U.S. and 60 other countries around the world. They measure the rate of students going to their second year of studies, as well as the rate of students who graduate. It also asks university representatives on the performance of universities, and evaluates university resources, teacher salaries, graduation rates, student academic achievements and satisfaction. After calculating and comparing these criteria, U.S. News ranks the top international universities accordingly.
Student services
All international students will be insured by Social Security Institution (Sosyal Güvenlik Kurumu - SGK) from the day that the academic year starts. The insurance will be valid for one year.
In order to activate the heath insurance, students need to pay 450TL to any branch of Ziraat Bank with their residence permit/temporary citizenship number, passport and student letter.
Housing services
IAU, in order to see to it that the university students stays in a peaceful, secure, comfortable, pleasant and hygienic atmosphere, has made an agreement with a large number of private dormitories and housing facilities in In the vicinity ofuniversitycampuses. They provide our students with accommodation alternatives such as single, double, triple, and suite rooms at affordable rates.
Library services
IAU libraries consist of materials such as thousands of books, periodicals. Journals, CDs and videos to provide source for academic and vocational activities and for individual improvement. IAU libraries', having a hi-tech and dynamic infrastructure, renders usual library services as well as virtual library atmosphere to students, lecturers and administrative staff.
Medical services
Health insurance allows you to get medical help and medicine by paying 20% of the subtotal which is given by the doctor with prescription. There are many state and private hospitals in Turkey.
Some of the hospitals work under complete agreements with SGK insurance and some of them require extra costs which are not covered by SGK insurance.
Campus life
Istanbul Aydin University (IAU) has 7 campuses located on both sides of Istanbul which spreads over Europe and Asia continents. Florya Campus, the main site of the university, is only 10 minutes away from the International Ataturk Airport. Majority of the first cycle (Bachelor’s) degree progrmammes and all postgraduate (second and third cycle) as well as the short cycle two-year vocational programs, are instructed in Florya Campus.
Language learning centre takes place in Bahçelievler Campus which is in 6 km distance from the main campus.
Each year it hosts around 2500 students who learn foreign languages, English, Spanish, Russian being the leading ones.
Sports facilities
In our university, a great number of sports activities,which are pioneered by the Center of Health, Culture and Sports, are held with the co-operation of Student’s Council and clubs besides the activities done regularly and in a planned way.
The aim of sport activities is to help students spend their free time according to their interests, become more interested in sports, to contribute their body and mental health, to support and encourrage their abilities, to develop their social relationships by producing, sharing and creating solutions.

Istanbul Aydin University is a comprehensive university and holds the ECTS and DS labels. Being the most chose university IAU has over 37.000 students in its over 250 programs.
