Wabash College

The 60-acre wooded campus contains 30 buildings predominantly of Georgian architecture. Caleb Mills taught the first class of Wabash students in 1833 in Forest Hall, located since 1965 at the north end of campus and now home to the Teacher Education Department. Built in 1836, Caleb Mills' House hosts various college functions. Also built in 1836 was Hovey Cottage, home to the College's second faculty member Edmund O. Hovey.

The mission of Wabash College is to achieve "excellence in teaching and learning within a community built on close and caring relationships among students, faculty, and staff". A Wabash education "encourages young men to adopt a life of intellectual and creative growth, self-awareness, and physical activity." We believe that physical activity and Athletics competition provide balance in the lives of young men engaged in rigorous academic pursuits. With academic excellence at the core of what we do, Wabash also strives for excellence and broad participation in its intercollegiate Athletics programs, intramural competitions, and recreational activities.Our program is designed for the benefit of all our students and for the enjoyment of the entire College community. It is supported by our outstanding Athletics facilities and a diversified program of intramural Athletics, which includes about twenty distinct activities.

The diversity of the Wabash student body is eclipsed only by the diversity of the students’ interests. Imagine a club, ensemble, organization, or publication and Wabash either has one — or will allow you to form one. The Wabash Student Senate, the governing body of student life, recognizes 70 different clubs and publications.

Each year, the Student Senate allocates more than $400,000 to fund student activities, which range from the College’s award-winning weekly newspaper, The Bachelor, to service clubs like College Mentors for Kids, Alpha Phi Omega, and the KQ&K Tutoring Program.

All of these clubs and organizations provide valuable, out-of-class learning and leadership development opportunities. Because they are entirely student-run and student-funded, each club elects its own leadership, manages its budget, and reports on its progress.
