Student services

This is your place for campus entertainment, activities, and information on how to get involved in campus life. We approve student events, support student clubs, oversee fraternity and sorority life, manage the Emerging Leaders program, and run the Student Union, the heart of campus life.

Housing services

There are 14 residence halls on the New Paltz campus.  This allows students to choose from a variety of living options, including, corridor or suite style, or special interest group housing.

All residence halls are coed.  Each residence hall offers a number of student-oriented facilities and services including a laundry room, computer terminals, a main meeting lounge for hall government meetings and activities, and a study lounge.  Additionally, each hall also has at least one television lounge, a kitchenette area, and a microwave for use by all residents of the hall.

Library services

The Library plays a critical leadership role in supporting and advancing a user-centered learning environment at SUNY New Paltz. As a team of courteous and knowledgeable librarians and staff, we treat users with respect and empathy at all times and serve all members of the academic community equitably, whether they are in the library or at a distance.

Medical services

Student Health Service provides non-emergency primary medical care for problems that occur while college is in session. SHS provides care with an emphasis on preventative health care. For routine matters such as scheduling appointments for non-urgent, non- emergency reasons, students need to call during our regular business hours.

    Sports facilities

New Paltz held a grand opening ceremony Tuesday, March 28, 2006 to officially open the College's new 57,000-square-foot Athletic & Wellness Center. The Athletic & Wellness Center is connected to Elting Gymnasium. Activity spaces within the Athletic & Wellness Center include two cardiovascular and weight training fitness centers at the west and east ends.

    Student clubs

The student governance is operated by the Student Association, which funds most student activities through a mandatory fee. There are many clubs, fraternities, and sororities. There is also an on-campus government, the Residence Hall Student Association (RHSA).

    Limited nightlife but safe

Not much to do in the area but joining a club or partaking in the dorm activities is definitely worth the time. Vegetarian Friendly which is hard to find. A majority of the buildings connect, it would be best to find that path because it does get very cold and rains quite often.

Suny New Paltz wasn't my first choice in schools but I'm glad I went there! The teachers were very supportive, when my grades slipped they expressed concern and offered to find some help for me! The ladies in the main office were very helpful too. I was having a bad mental day and they allowed me to just sit and breathe for a second.
