History
The legacy of University of Detroit Mercy began over 139 years ago. Our founders, the Society of Jesus and the Religious Sisters of Mercy, have always believed in the power of education to change people and, through them, the world. To that end, each order began colleges to foster the intellectual, social, spiritual and moral development of individuals.
Education
Detroit Mercy offers more than 100 academic degrees and programs through seven schools and colleges.
Research
Our facilities and laboratories are world-class. In 2016, two exciting laboratories were dedicated to educate industry-ready engineers and scientists for exciting careers.
The 5,200-square-foot William L. Koyzra Center for Automotive Systems Engineering Education is designed to foster student teamwork on collaborative projects including competitive vehicle design, robotics and autonomous vehicle development.
The iNSPIRE Lab Learning Center serves as a nexus for creative activity, mentoring and undergraduate research.
Career
The Center for Career & Professional Development (CCPD) partners with students and alumni to enhance their educational goals, career development and job or internship search as they transition from college to career.

Campus life
- Shiple Hall is located on the southeast corner of the campus. The seven-story building houses first-year students and the First Year Experience (FYE) program.
- The Quads consists of four, 4-story residence halls connected at the basement level to the Quads Commons building.
- Holden Hall is a co-ed dormitory ready to accommodate up to 140 residents of different backgrounds, cultures and origins.

- A 12,720 square foot gym floor, which can be used for basketball, volleyball, floor hockey or badminton courts.
