A Journey of Growth and Purpose

Looking back at my journey as a Social Work student, I see more than just academic lessons—I see personal transformation, challenges that shaped me, and moments that redefined my understanding of people, society, and myself. What I truly loved about my experience was the depth of human connection. Social Work is not just a field of study; it’s a calling. My courses weren’t just about theories and policies—they were about real lives, real struggles, and real change. Every lecture, every case study, and every discussion in class made me more empathetic, more aware, and more determined to be a voice for those unheard. The university provided an environment where I could grow both intellectually and emotionally, surrounded by passionate professors and classmates who shared the same drive to make a difference. However, like any experience, it wasn’t without its challenges. I sometimes wished for a more practical, hands-on approach—more fieldwork, more opportunities to engage with real communities, and a stronger bridge between theory and practice. While the university laid a strong foundation, I believe integrating more internships and experiential learning would better prepare students for the realities of the profession. Overall, my time at Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts was transformative. It taught me not only about social justice, policies, and human rights but also about resilience, patience, and the power of listening. It strengthened my belief that change starts with individuals who dare to care. This experience didn’t just prepare me for a career—it shaped me into the person I am today, someone ready to stand up, advocate, and make a difference.

Not best, but at least.

The first half of the year was complete disaster. Because of the pandemic, lessons were online, and most teachers were not ready for online teaching. The program is the same everywhere in the country, but the teachers were understanding and tried to teach everything in the most useful way possible.
