History
The Huntingdon Normal School was established by a spry young Huntingdon physician, Dr. Andrew B. Brumbaugh, and his two cousins, Henry and John Brumbaugh. Henry provided a second-story room over his local print shop for classes, while John lodged and fed the college's first teacher, Jacob M. Zuck. Andrew was to "provide students and furniture".

Campus life
Take it in—all of it. Choose new experiences. Dare to challenge your own perspectives. Join in the fun, the traditions, and, at times, the sheer silliness that brings people together and balances the serious work of study. Think about the memories, the possibilities, the friendships, the unexpected outcomes. What happens here outside of the classroom enriches your education. Learning is learning. Everything you do at Juniata ultimately helps shape the authentic you.
Sports facilities
With the completion of the Kennedy Sports + Recreation Center (1983), Juniata College students were provided with the most modern of recreational facilities. A hub for out-of-classroom activity, the Kennedy Center contains two gymnasiums; a six-lane, 25-meter swimming pool; a wrestling room; racquetball/handball courts; sauna facilities; universal weight lifting equipment; 11 nautilus machines; and three expanded locker rooms.
Student clubs
Juniata has dozens of clubs and organizations on campus that give students the opportunity to develop different skills, support various causes, grow as a person, make friends and/or just have fun!
Accreditation
The Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and has achieved the highest state rating as a Keystone STAR 4 Center (Keystone STARS). The Center is also licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare. Our high-quality early childhood program provides a safe and nurturing environment while promoting the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of young children.

Quality Professors
I have really enjoyed my time at Juniata. Even though its a small school, I think there are numerous academic opportunities for students to succeed. I also believe the professors that Juniata attracts are quality people who care more about teaching and enriching students than anything else.
Juniata College: Should you come here?
Juniata College has a lot to offer. Not all of it is good, but certainly, not all of it is bad. One thing every student on campus can agree on is that the best Juniata College can offer is its faculty and staff. I cannot remember a professor or Juniata College employee (that is, janitor or dining room attendants) who were not extremely helpful to me throughout my college career. Professors are forgiving of deadlines without being spineless and they are incredibly supportive towards struggling students, such as myself. The staff, mostly from the local area, are friendly towards students. I have only these people to thank for getting me through the many hardships I've had to face (and my family, I love you too, don't worry). The worst part is definitely the location. As a student from the island of Puerto Rico, I expected it to be difficult to find a ride home between semesters. But not only are there no airports nearby, there was a single train that arrived twice a day at inconvenient hours and no Ubers around. If you consider coming to Juniata College, make sure you either bring a car or make fast friends with someone who has readily available transportation.
