History
Founded in 1947, originally as a vocational rehabilitation school for World War II veterans, the university has grown immensely in size, scope, and service. Today, we’re accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and our student population totals more than 5,400, making our student-to-faculty ratio 15:1.
Education
Oregon Tech (accredited by the NWCCU) is the Pacific Northwest’s premier public-and affordable-polytechnic university. Hands-on approaches make learning exciting and prepare students for their future careers. Students have amazing opportunities to apply what they learn in lab-based classes, clinics, externships and workplaces. This practical focus is reinforced by faculty who come to Oregon Tech with relevant business, industrial, or clinical experience.
Through our nearly 50 bachelor’s and advanced degree programs, the university offers a rigorous, experiential education that allows students to pursue their passions and professional opportunities in internships, externships and field experiences.
Research
Whether it’s creating internships or bringing new technology to campus, our university is charged by the relationships we’ve built with our business and association partners.
The Office of Strategic Partnerships cultivates relationships with industry partners to enhance the university and the education we offer. In doing so, the office promotes Oregon Tech’s economic development mission and ensures that our students have access to the technology and opportunities needed to truly master their crafts.
Career
The Career Services supports student success by:
- Educating students how to find and take advantage of opportunities that are the best fit with their interests, skills and career goals.
- Enhancing opportunities (number and quality) that students are able to access.
- Empowering others across the university to equip all Oregon Tech students with the skills needed to advance in their careers.

Student services
The Student Success Center provides a variety of resources to help students thrive at Oregon Tech and beyond by helping them achieve their individual goals through collaboration and advocacy.
Housing services
Our Klamath Falls campus offers two housing facilities to allow students to stay on campus as they study, which comes with a host of perks. In addition to convenience, staying on campus has been shown to improve academic success. It allows you to fully immerse yourself in the campus culture, make lasting friendships with people of diverse backgrounds, and partake in countless activities—including annual traditions such as Tech Con, Spring Fling and the local favorite, the Halloween Haunted House.
Library services
The Oregon Tech Library is located in the Learning Resources Center (LRC) on the Oregon Tech campus in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The Library contains approximately 140,000 books and over 1,200 periodicals. Resources and services include a web-based catalog, over 70 online databases, federal and Oregon state documents, CD-ROMs, interlibrary loans, classes, tours, and seminars.
Medical services
The Integrated Student Health Center, located at the main campus in Klamath Falls, provides general medical care for illnesses and accidents, medical referral, counseling and wellness programs.
Campus life
The main, residential campus is located in Klamath Falls in beautiful Southern Oregon. Klamath Falls, a city of about 20,000 residents (45,000 in urban growth area), is located in south-central Oregon, about 20 miles from the California border. Known as Oregon's "City of Sunshine," Klamath Falls enjoys about 300 days of blue skies each year.
Oregon Tech's Portland-Metro campus is located 15 miles south of downtown Portland, in the community of Wilsonville. The Portland-Metro campus is designed to provide an industry-focused educational experience at the heart of Silicon Forest.
Sports facilities
Our students know a thing or two about what it means to hustle—both in and out of the classroom. On courts and fields, in our recreation facilities and fitness center, Oregon Tech Owls put the work in to achieve their athletic goals and stay healthy. The university’s dozen-plus intercollegiate teams represent us at home and on the road, and their classmates don blue and gold to cheer them on. You can also join a variety of club and intramural sports, work out in our fitness center, and participate in eSports challenges.
Newly remodeled, the Recreation Center houses the Danny Miles Court and a new fitness center, weight area, aerobics studio, and sports court.
Student clubs
Each year more and more campus clubs are formed by Oregon Tech students. There are many student clubs to choose from. Campus clubs operate on a voluntary basis and are a great way to meet people, develop a skill, improve your resume, and so much more!
