Brockport is a selective, nationally recognized and accredited public institution. We are the engaged SUNY campus and one of the most engaged college campuses in the country.

History

In 1835, village leaders partnered with a Baptist group to build an institution of higher learning. These academies were a common institution at the time. At that time, public schooling ended with the 8th grade and "high schools" did not yet exist. Colleges were very few in number, and generally did not admit women or minorities.

Education

  • Built on a liberal arts foundation, our 49 undergraduate majors are extensive and diverse. Students can also choose a pre-professional or combined degree program. Through experiential learning and other activities, our graduates leave prepared for whatever is next.
  • Graduate study at Brockport is flexible with online and in-classroom options. We offer 50+ master's degree programs, advanced certificates and teacher certifications. Our graduate programs help you advance your career or go on to post-master's study.

Research

Undergraduate research at Brockport gives students an opportunity to work closely with a faculty mentor on scholarly or creative projects directly related to a student's major.

Student services

If students have questions about academic policies or procedures, they can be sure that they'll get answers, explanations, and some assistance from the Academic Advisement Office. Information on Brockport's advisement system, meeting with advisors, declaring a major, transfer credits, degree audit reports, and other hints for success at Brockport can be found here.

Housing services

  • Our campus housing includes 13 residence halls, with suite, corridor and hotel-style options, as well as a townhome complex. You can choose a living learning community with other students who share your interests.
  • But, residential life is so much more than that. You have access to a variety of dining options, fitness facilities, sports and recreation, arts and performance, clubs and organizations, and our library – right on campus. If you want to get around the village you can also borrow a bike or take our shuttle service.

Library services

The Rose Archives is housed on the ground floor of the Drake Memorial Library. It tells the story of the College from its inception as a private "academy" in 1835 through the present day.

ICT services

Computer Lounge: Also located on the lower level of the Seymour College Union, the computer lounge allows you access to the Internet and Microsoft Office programs. The computer lounge can only be accessed by students who have completed an Access Form.

Medical services

The Student Health Center is part of the Hazen Center for Integrated Care, which provides a holistic approach to student health and wellness, and supports students’ mind, body, and spirit throughout their Brockport experience.

  • The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) is a voluntary membership association that defines, maintains and promotes educational excellence across 525 accredited institutions. MSCHE is recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation to accredit degree-granting institutions. 
  • Member institutions within the Middle States region that award postsecondary degrees are eligible for accreditation by MSCHE. The Middle States region includes institutions in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and other locations abroad.
