History

Located in north central North Dakota, Minot State University is a place where east meets west. Nestled on the northern edge of the Mouse River Valley, the campus stands at the heart of the "Magic City."

The city of Minot - nicknamed the "Magic City" for its phenomenal growth during the early 1900s - is a regional center for commerce, culture, healthcare, agribusiness and industry.

Student services

The Student Center is your centralized hub for campus life at Minot State University. At the heart of campus, the facilities and services of the Student Center contribute to the cultural, educational, recreational, service, and social activities of our campus community. 

Housing services

All students living on campus must be familiar with our Community Policies. All rooms are furnished and include a bed, desk, chair, closet, and dresser.

Library services

The Gordon B. Olson Library is an academic library dedicated to supporting the scholarship and learning of Minot State University students and faculty by selecting, organizing, and storing the scholarly resources that enable rigorous academic experiences; by teaching students how to find, select, analyze and use information effectively and ethically.

Medical services

The Student Health Clinic (SHC) is your clinic away from home. Our professional staff specializes in medical care for college students in a comfortable environment. The clinic is conveniently located on campus and easy to use with a wide array of services including immunizations, physicals, STD testing, health education and programs, and mental health assistance.

Campus life

The Minot State University campus started out with two buildings in 1913 and has grown over it's 100+ years to include 26 key buildings. 

Sports facilities

Home of the Minot State University Beavers, the MSU Dome is the third largest arena in the tri-state area (Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota area with a seating capacity of 10,000).

The Dome also contains: three full-length basketball courts, a 1/10-mile competitive eight-lane track, a sand pit for long and triple jumps, a walking and running exercise track (open to the public), two racquetball courts, athletic training facilities, locker rooms and Athletics Department offices. All athletic events are open and free to MSU students with student ID. The Dome also hosts many community and regional events, including sports tournaments, conventions and concerts.

Student clubs

As the North Dakota Student Association, NDSA, we provide opportunities for student engagement, enhancement of the University System, and student education about issues affecting university life. We boldly advocate for diverse student interests and are committed to maintaining open channels of communication between the students, faculty, staff, university administration, university system officials, and legislators of the state of North Dakota. We serve with honor for the maintenance of open communication, cooperation between institutions, and beneficial discussion with and support of the member institutions.

Accreditation

MSU’s accreditation is both regional and programmatic. Minot State University has earned regional institutional accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).

GOOD REQUIREMENTS TO ENSURE SMOOTH TEACHING AND LEARNING IN THE UNIVERSITY
